Fox Valley Free Learners
Welcome
Welcome to Fox Valley Free Learners (FVFL)! We are a Sudbury-inspired, self-directed learners co-op located in Dundee, IL. Our indoor co-op meets on Tuesdays during the school year (split into two semesters), plus optional park days and field trips year round. We are a parent-run, non-sectarian, all volunteer community, made up homeschooling families that use a mix of learning styles.
We are now in our seventh year as a co-op! We focus on self-directed learning, making resources available to our members, incorporating Sudbury principles where possible, and of course having fun.
We are continually building our community and focusing our vision. Our members (both youth & adult) are actively involved in planning and decision making as we continue to further our self-directed initiatives.
We’d love to hear from you and get together to find out if your family is a good fit for FVFL!

Our Mission
The mission of FVFL is to maintain a community that fosters self-directed learning and encourages students to take responsibility for themselves and their environment. We believe students need plenty of time and space to pursue their own interests alongside their peers with guidance and support from adults in their community.

Co-op Mission:

1. To maintain a community of Self-Directed Learners.

2. Implement processes that enable the students to take ownership of the co-op.

3. Maintain an environment where students are able to easily access supplies, resources and assistance if needed.

We are very much inspired by the Sudbury principle that students are naturally motivated and driven to develop the skills they need to become effective adults. We are a homeschool co-operative group, not a private school.
